"For My Mother's Sake"

Listen or purchase HERE You're the reason my mother is who she is today Your hands picked her up, held her close Fed her mouth, taught her everything So much of you in her, so much of her in me And you gave us both your heart of gold I hoped this day would never come But we all just keep growing older

CHORUS Please hang on for a little while She's not ready for you to go To move on, to walk into the light I hope and I pray you hold onto your strength Never losing faith For my mother's sake For my mother's sake It hasn't been easy, you know better than me how to survive You've been through it all, all your life Made to fight and came out on the other side So much of you in her, so much of her in me And you gave us both your heart of gold I hoped this day would never come But we all just keep growing older CHORUS No matter what happens You already know that we love you And that love will never go But it never hurts to hear it over and over again CHORUS Written by Misha Williams © 2011 by Velvet Vine Publishing

BEHIND THE SONG: "For My Mother's Sake" is a very personal song, written to my grandmother Geraldine, written for my mother Denise. I wrote this song in the middle of the night in March 2011, while my grandmother was sick in the hospital. I couldn't go to bed until I finished this song - it was such a raw moment where the next morning would have changed the outcome of how I wrote the song entirely. I was not able to be there with my grandma when she passed, but I knew that I needed to write this for my mom. My grandma did not get a chance to hear my song to her in this world, but I can feel her listening every time I play it for her now.
